In 2006, for Ghana School Aid’s 20th anniversary members and friends contributed more than 20 chapters to a unique book collecting insights and experiences from many decades of educational work in Ghana.

The book was edited by Eric Cunningham, Jennifer MacDougall, Alan Mayhew and Michael Hammer and launched at the 2006 anniversary Annual General Meeting held at the British Empire and Commonwealth History Museum in Bristol.

Contributors include educationalist Sylvia Ward, but also the last Governor of the Gold Coast Lord Listowel, and with all other chapter writers create a multifacetted picture of the period from way before independence to Ghana under Nkrumah and beyond.

John Smith, a District Officer in Kano in Nigeria and later serving under Nigeria’s new government and in the Western Pacific shared this very kind review of the book. Copies can be requested for a donation to Ghana School Aid from the Secretary (secretary@ghanaschoolaid.org), or are in some cases available through booksellers online.
